With someone as attractive as Gojo, you would expect that he would have a love interest. Most overpowered mentor characters in his place ended up with one. Alucard, for example, had Sir Integra Hellsing. Goku ended up settling down at one point with Chi-chi. Sadly, this doesn’t seem to be the case for Gojo. In his life, he sits at the top as the world’s strongest. In this case, it is difficult for him to find someone to settle down with. Much more with someone who wouldn’t fan-worship him like a god! In this article, we delve into his prospects in both love and relationships.
Who Does Gojo Like? His Relationships with People
Being the strongest in Jujutsu Kaisen had its problems. People would fear you or worship you like a god. In Gojo’s case, it’s both, and he knows it very well. He preened under the praise and condemnation of the masses. It only served to feed his god complex which was fully shown in the events pre-Jujutsu Kaisen. He developed an apathetic attitude towards people he had deemed weak. This trait seemed to carry over to current events.
However, we see that this is not the full story. Despite his attitude, he was able to forge relationships and connections with people. His arrogance also ebbed off. Instead, it is replaced with a laidback attitude. Here are the people he liked and tolerated in the series.
Gojo’s Schoolmates
As a Jujutsu Sorcerer, Gojo had to go through a school to fully learn his techniques. During his time there, he met up with a few people. Here are the select few whom Gojo bonded with the most.
Suguru Geto
Of all the classmates and friends Gojo had, Geto is the person he cared for the most. He had called Geto his best friend at the time. The reason behind this is not fully explored, but it had something to do with their strengths. Out of all the people Gojo knew, only Geto was able to keep up. As a fellow strong Jujutsu Sorcerer, the two became fast friends.
Geto is singlehandedly the deepest relationship Gojo ever had in his life. The latter had considered the former almost like a brother. Unfortunately, this friendship wouldn’t last. After Gojo became stronger after the events of the Star Plasma Arc, Geto had been left behind. In the process, the man began to doubt his life as a Jujutsu Sorcerer.
Then came the mission that changed Geto’s life. In the words of Emperor Palpatine, Geto had let his “anger flow”. Feeling betrayed by the people he worked for, he rebelled. He caused a massacre that left Gojo disappointed and distressed. He had tried to understand Geto and sought him out for explanations. When negotiations failed with Geto giving in to the dark side, Gojo couldn’t do anything else. Even when he had a clear shot of his best friend, he didn’t pull the trigger.
Eventually, the two would face off again and again until Gojo finally had the upper hand. Geto was now another villain Gojo had to put down. In a rare display of compassion, Gojo killed his best friend with care and hesitation.
This was the first time we have seen Gojo visibly distraught. Despite Geto’s heinous crimes, Gojo continued to call him his best friend.
Shoko Ieri
With the death of his best friend, only Shoko Ieri is left as one of his oldest friends. She had been the one responsible for keeping Gojo and Geto in line. In a way, she is the voice of reason for the friend group. However, unlike Geto, she didn’t establish a deep relationship with Gojo. In the end, she kept a casual friendship with the man.
We see them interact again when Yuji Itadori had his heart ripped out by Sukuna. It appeared that after all these years, the two remained friends.
Utahime Iori
Utahime is Gojo’s counterpart at Kyoto Jujutsu High. Although she isn’t exactly the principal, she works as the students’ representative. As Gojo’s senpai, the two had a history together as “rivals”. Gojo liked to tease Utahime a lot despite being her junior. We see that this dynamic didn’t change in the present time.
Among all the characters, Utahime is one of the few who isn’t intimidated by Gojo. She was more than willing to return what she got. Their constant bickers had led many fans of the show to ship the two. However, the manga has not shown any indication for these two to be in love. If anything, Gojo liked to tease Utahime because he thought she was amusing. That despite being a weak person, she was willing to throw verbal barbs his way.
Mei Mei
Among all the other characters, Mei Mei is another character whom Gojo saw as strong. Even back as a student, he put the woman on a high pedestal. The two shared a respectful and cordial relationship even to the present time. Goju trusts her enough to pay for her services. In their attempt to uncover the traitor from the Kyoto Goodwill Event, he paid Mei 10 million yen.
Kento Nanami
Nanami is an underclassman of Gojo. At some point, the two had gotten to know each other and become acquainted. Gojo trusted Nanami enough to train Yuji in his stead.
Gojo’s Students
In time, Gojo established his school. He wanted to train the next generation of Jujutsu Sorcerers, so they will become strong. This meant that he had met with multiple students, but only a few left a mark on him. This is not to say that he didn’t care for all his students! He just so happened to have some favorites.
Itadori Yuji
Gojo’s friendship with Yuji is most likely the second deepest relationship he had in his life. While Yuji did not serve as a replacement for Geto, he did enjoy his time with the boy. Out of all the students he had, it was Yuji he’d seen the most promise. After all, who would eat all the fingers of a Curse who wants to take over your body? Gojo happened to like insane people like that. This is likely when Gojo started treating Yuji more than just a student.
Does Gojo like Yuji?
Gojo liked Yuji a lot based on their interactions. He did everything he can to accommodate the boy. When Yuji was thought to have died, we see Gojo blame himself for the act. He was livid that the higher-ups had taken advantage of his absence to kill Yuji. This was something uncommon for Gojo that even Shoko, his old friend, commented on it. When Yuji was revealed to still be alive, we see the Six Eyes’ Holder brighten up and laugh.
Fushiguro Megumi
Gojo’s circumstances with Megumi are rather complicated. He was entrusted to him by Fushiguro Toji after their battle. Since then, Gojo was more like a step-father to the boy than a mentor. He gave Megumi the same special treatment as he did with Yuji. After realizing his shortcomings, Megumi asked Gojo to train him more. Gojo, in response, obliged and then gave the boy a special lesson. It was thanks to Gojo that Megumi was able to push past his limits.
On the less serious side of their interactions, Gojo liked to mess with Megumi. The latter always gave some solid reactions that would send Gojo into a laughing fit.
Okkotsu Yuta
Before Yuji, there was Okkotsu. He was a Jujutsu Sorcerer who had a really strong Curse following him. Gojo had scouted him after the boy was sentenced to execution. In a similar fashion to Yuji, he had received the boy as his student. Satoru saw promise in him into becoming one of the strongest sorcerers alive.
Like Yuji, he did spoil the boy a bit as well. Satoru provided him with the experience to overcome his Curse and a chance at life. The relationship between the two is more teacher and student. However, Gojo did hold Okkotsu in high regard. He categorized him as one of his best students with Yuji following suit.
Who is Gojo’s Love Interest?
While we discussed all the important figures in Gojo’s life, you might have noticed something. None of these characters have shown any romantic inclination to Gojo. Nor was there any vice versa. This is because Gojo does not have any interest in love. While he is aware of how attractive he is, he doesn’t take advantage of it. Never once did the man develop a crush or had a love interest even in his past. He was simply too absorbed in himself to care about settling down.
Even in the present time, Gojo had focused on educating and protecting his students over finding love. Likely, he didn’t want to settle down with someone he’d consider weak. Even Gege admitted on JJK’s official fanbook that he couldn’t see Gojo being faithful to women. It is unknown if Gojo is into men or women.
